The Boys to End With Season 5 on Amazon

Ahead of the premiere of “The Boys” Season 4, showrunner Eric Kripke has announced the R-rated Amazon Prime Video superhero series will conclude with its fifth season.
“#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!” Kripke said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday, which was accompanied with a screenshot of a redacted copy of the script for the Season 4 finale. “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”
Debuting in 2019, “The Boys” takes place in a world run by superhero mega corp Vought and follows the battle between the supes and the titular “Boys,” a group of humans whose lives have been ruined in one way or another by supes.

The series stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit and Cameron Crovetti. Joining for Season 4 is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, marking the second big “Supernatural” alum to become a recurring character following Jensen Ackles’ role as Soldier Boy in Season 3.
“The Boys” is executive produced by Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter, along with “The Boys” comic creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.
The Emmy-winning drama hails from Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film and Point Grey Pictures.
Speculation had already begun that the next season of “The Boys” would be its last as Amazon renewed the show for Season 5 just before Kripke and the cast began doing press for Season 4, which debuts with three episodes Thursday.
Kripke had previously said he wanted at least five seasons to tell the story, but the fifth season renewal announcement on May 14 did not state it would be the final season, so theorizing began.
“The Boys” has spawned multiple spinoff projects at Amazon, including animated anthology “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” and live-action supehero college series “Gen V,” which is in production on its second season, as well as two other projects currently in development, one set in Mexico and the other just announced by Kripke.
